Are Digital Media Changing Language?

"Students already understand that particular styles of language are appropriate for one venue but not another."

I agree strongly with the above statement. This is a mindset that I have had all my life. In high school my friends and I always knew that the way we talked to each other wasn't appropriate when addressing someone in a superior position. I believe that as long as you know how to speak respectfully and clearly in a professional setting, then that's good enough.

“Whatever the benefits of digital media, it is destroying the ability of young people to construct the basic unit of the English Language...the sentence.”

I don't think media is ruining the sentence, but rather just giving more opportunity to write.
